Spring News Letter

Valley View Middle School PTA joined with the Middle School to honor
our Veterans for Veteran's Day. Several area veterans were in attendance for
the presentation. The Middle School Vivace! chorus performed for the event.
During the presentation, the Middle School PTA under the leadership of Jean
Marie Chorba, presented the school with a framed American flag, which was
flown in Iraq during four separate missions, a photo and a letter received
back from the Military Police Platoon, 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.
The flag in the frame has a special significance because it is the same flag
that was sent by our Valley View students to the soldiers in Iraq with
caring words of thanks and encouragement. Now, the flag has come home to
Valley View again. This framed memento will be displayed in the Middle
School lobby for all to see.
The main speaker for the event was Chaplain Tammie Crews, of
Tobyhanna Army Depot, who is herself a Veteran of the Iraqi war. She spoke
to the students about the military and the sacrifices that veterans make for
our country. This was followed by a question and answer period. PTA
coordinator for the event was Lori Martin.
